Who we are
Established in 1985, we are a family run business offering a wide range of agricultural and forestry services.
Our areas of expertise include large scale wood chipping, wood chip supply, heavy duty mulching, wholesale firewood supply, specialist site clearance work and the management and felling of trees.
We are based in East Yorkshire and operate throughout the UK.
As well as our forestry services, we offer a range of high quality wood fuel and garden products for delivery across the Yorkshire region.
A strong work ethic combined with the use of the latest machinery and an experienced team of highly skilled forestry workers ensures that our projects are delivered to agreed budgets, specifications and timescales. Full traceability for site clearance work is provided as part of the service.
We are proud to hold Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation and are approved BSL Biomass Chip and Log Suppliers. We are also registered as a supplier of 'Ready to Burn' Logs and Kindling. Our wood fuel products are produced to strict quality guidelines and are independently tested and certified by Woodsure.
How we work
At J & S Vicary we are safety focused and conduct appropriate risk assessments before commencing any project. Our highly skilled team members undertake relevant training and hold suitable qualifications for the jobs that they perform. Refresher training is also completed on an ongoing basis so that awareness of the latest techniques and best practice are maintained.
The welfare of our people is important to us, so all our team hold First Aid at Work + Forestry qualifications and Chris Vicary is a member of FISA, the Forestry Industry Safety Accord.
We believe that our natural environment is precious and recognise that it is our responsibility to work sustainably. Timber is harvested in accordance with the relevant felling licence or
woodland management plan, and we engage the services of ecologists to ensure that nesting birds are not disturbed.
As a Woodsure certified supplier, we produce reliable, high-quality woodfuels. Our hardwood logs are compliant with the new legislation that aims to prevent harmful pollution from domestic burning, and our biomass woodfuel is tested to to EN and Önorm standard for woodfuel quality. These are the requirements that boiler manufacturers and installers specify customers should use.
