Established in 1985, we are a family run business offering a wide range of agricultural and forestry services. Our areas of expertise include large scale wood chipping, woodchip supply, heavy duty mulching, wholesale firewood supply, specialist site clearance work and the management and felling of trees.
We are based in East Yorkshire and operate throughout the UK.
As well as our forestry services, we offer a range of high quality woodfuel and garden products for delivery across Yorkshire. With a strong work ethic, the latest machinery and an experienced team of highly skilled forestry workers, we deliver each project to agreed budgets, specifications and timescales. Full traceability for site clearance work is provided as part of the service.
We're proud to hold Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation and to be an approved supplier of biomass chip and logs on the Biomass Suppliers List (BSL). Our logs and kindling are also certified under the Ready to Burn scheme. All our woodfuel is produced to strict quality standards and is independently tested and certified by Woodsure. J & S Vicary is also a member of the Forestry Industry Safety Accord (FISA).
Safety is at the heart of everything we do at J & S Vicary. Before any project begins, we carry out thorough risk assessments. Our highly skilled team are fully trained and qualified for the work they carry out, and regular refresher training keeps them up to date with the latest techniques and best practice.
We care about the wellbeing of our people. Every member of our team holds a First Aid at Work + Forestry qualification, and Chris Vicary is a member of FISA, the Forestry Industry Safety Accord.
Our natural environment is precious, and we take our responsibility to work sustainably seriously. All timber is harvested in line with the relevant felling licence or woodland management plan, and we work with ecologists to make sure nesting birds are left undisturbed. Our machinery runs on large, low ground-pressure tracks and tyres, reducing soil compaction and protecting the forest floor as we work.
As a Woodsure certified supplier, we produce reliable, high-quality woodfuel. Our hardwood logs meet the legal requirements designed to reduce harmful pollution from domestic burning. Our biomass woodfuel is tested to EN and Önorm quality standards, the same standards that boiler manufacturers and installers recommend.
